Our Supporters
Happy Child was founded by Sarah and John de Carvalho in 1993 and has always depended on friends for their practical support, prayer and financial giving. We have friends in Brazil, UK, USA, Switzerland, Ireland and other countries. The charity had grown by 2006 to 50 staff with ambitious growth plans 2007 to 2010 and beyond to meet the needs of street children.
We have a fantastic team in Brazil and a strong platform on which to double our reach over the next few years, and this means building our resources and capabilities to sustain this growth in our services.
We relaunched Happy Child International in November 2006, and gradually we shall offer more opportunities to our supporters to become engaged both in the UK and in Brazil. We are inviting people to become REGULAR GIVERS, so that we can plan our growth with confidence.
Also we need volunteers in a number of areas in the UK to support our growing activities in different ways.
For our UK Office we need a volunteer
- To manage our growing Supporter Database. Ideally the person will have experience of Database Management and of the Excel computer package.
- To manage Happy Child office’s IT systems. Ideally the person will have experience of systems management and all areas of IT software and hardware.
We need to strengthen the Trustees, and if you have experience in
- operations, communications, marketing
- fundraising

For our Brazilian Operations we need
- Individuals who have a long term call to work in Brazil with children and young people
- Individuals who would be willing to go out to Brazil for two months to take part in our annual training course for Christian Social Educators in Belo Horizonte. For more information please contact caroline.taylor on caroline.taylor@happychild.org
