Our Vision, Goals & Strategy

Over the past seventeen years, Happy Child has rescued over 8,500 street children from the city of Belo Horizonte in Brazil, and provided for their restoration and reintegration in to family and community. We believe this to be a testimony to God’s grace working through Christian action, and provides us with the motivation to extend our reach to other parts of Brazil, and other countries wherever there are street children in need.

We have an ambitious vision for the period 2007 to 2010, but one that meets a desperate need, and one that we can achieve by working in partnership. We put our trust in God and step out in faith in his service to do all that he empowers us to do. Our main goals for the next three years are:

Promote excellence in the care of street children across the world through the replication of the Happy Child International Belo Horizonte operational model
Mobilise and develop a network of trained people to work with street children throughout the world, including street teams
Promote awareness of the plight of street children and influence policy at local and national levels
Resource the development and continuation of this work through establishing, nurturing and supporting local groups to be largely self-sustaining
Reduce the number of street children year on year wherever we have an operational centre.
Establish the Happy Child International operation as a professional and sustainable charity capable of delivering this vision in the UK, Brazil and wherever we have operational centres
