Other ways to donate
There are other ways to donate to Happy Child other than individual giving. We are working to develop our web site to provide these other means of giving online. The main ones are set out below, and if you are interested then please contact our office and we shall get in touch with you directly.
Legacy Giving
A legacy is one of the most effective ways you can help Happy Child provide for street and ‘at risk’ children who suffer from the 12 poverties of violence, fear, poverty, criminal gangs, abuse, drugs, exploitation, abandonment, prostitution, loneliness, despair, death We work to provide the 12 Happy Child blessings of love, family, safety, shelter, nourishment, role models, education, prayer, opportunity, hope, esteem and a childhood.
If you pledge to leave a legacy to Happy Child in your Will, you will help us support children far in to the future and make a difference to children’s lives. It’s so easy to arrange and we can provide you with a step by step approach to providing a legacy for Happy Child. If you would like to know more then contact the Happy Child office.
If you leave a legacy to Happy Child, it will be tax free because we are a charity. So, for example, if you leave us £10,000 in your will, we’ll actually get the whole £10,000. Leaving a legacy is therefore a very tax-efficient way for you to help a charity. If you are interested in setting up a legacy, please contact our office – details below – and we shall provide you all the information you need.
Payroll Giving
Payroll Giving is the easy way to make regular donations direct from your salary or pension to help Happy Child’s work. Because Payroll Giving is tax free, it actually costs you less to give more. A £5 donation from your salary will cost you £3 if you pay tax at 40%, or £3.90 if you pay tax at 22%. by contacting your payroll department.
If you are an employee who wants to sign up for payroll giving, or an employer interested in setting up a scheme for your employees, please contact our office – details below – and we shall provide you all the information you need.
Gifting Shares for Children
It’s never been easier to support Happy Child by gifting shares or share dividends, nor so rewarding with current tax benefits.
Whether you are a shareholder, an employee in a company share scheme or a company secretary, share giving can make a positive difference to the lives of children in Brazil.
Gifting shares as an individual
Donating your shares can be a very tax-effective way of giving, especially if you are a higher rate tax-payer, as you can claim full tax relief to the market value of your shares. We accept donations of shares, large and small. If you own shares that are not worth selling then they can still benefit charity, as we will put you in touch with ShareGift, an organisation which specialises in accepting shares of low value.
Gifting shares as a company
Your company can claim corporation tax relief for gifting shares to Happy Child. If you have a dividend reinvestment or sharesave scheme then there are other benefits too. Many employees or shareholders find it both easy and rewarding to gift residual cash balances to Happy Child, and this enables your company to save administration costs from such small redistribution.
To get more information on how share giving might work for you please contact our office – details below – and we shall provide you all the information you need.
Please note that you should always seek advice from your tax adviser. The Inland Revenue may be a useful starting point.
