The children come to this house often high on drugs, with aggressive behaviour patterns and from violent and abusive family situations.
In Emaus our goals are to
- Stabalise the child’s behaviour
- Detox the child if necessary
- Find out the child’s case history
- Make contact with the child’s family if possible
Staff Team
Attending to children at Emaus is at the cutting edge of Happy Child’s front line delivery.
Qualified staff are trained to receive street children or children at high risk any time during the day or night. We aim to restore each child emotionally, spiritually, physically, educationally and socially.
When the children arrive at Emaus they are given a full medical check up and regular lessons on hygiene. We provide support for school work, craft workshops and IT. We encourage the children to do sport and other activities to develop social skills. Our goal is to provide a safe and secure environment for them where they can build healthy loving relationships with our staff.
The work in this house is supported by a trained psychologist, a social worker and the Happy Child family team. A child can stay at Emaus for up to three months.
