Julimar
12 years old
Julimar has been with Happy Child for almost one year. His father left home and shortly afterwards his mother started living with another partner. He drank heavily and would frequently hit Julimar and his three brothers and sisters. Julimar’s Mother and partner survived by picking up litter and tins from the streets.
The growing violence and unhappiness at home forced Julimar to the streets where he used to beg from passers by. He would often say ‘the streets attracted me’
A street team referred Julimar to Happy Child. Now he is on the Happy Child farm and going to school regularly.
Juilmar is a very anxious little boy and has been referred for special psychological support in the local neighbourhood.
Both Julimar’s other brothers are living with his paternal grandparents. Julimar says he would like to live with his Dad who works in a school. Sadly his dad hasn’t shown very much interest in having Julimar come home. The Happy Child family team are working closely with his father to help him consider the long term future of his son.
A letter from Julimar
Dear Friends
My name is Julimar and I am 12 years old. I live on the Happy Child farm. I am at school in year 5 and really enjoying that. I like maths and physical education. I think I would like to be a footballer.
Although I am with Happy Child now I would really like to go back to my family. I remember that my Mum and my step Dad argued a lot. The most important things in my life are my family and Jesus.
I like reading the Bible and going to church. I would like all my family to be together and not fighting.
At the farm I really enjoy working with Bonsai plants My biggest dream is to be reunited with my family.
A hug
