Leonel Fernandes, 20, never gave up on his dreams — even when everything seemed out of reach.
From a young age, he made the most of every opportunity that came his way. He earned a place at a private school, took part in social projects, and began giving violin lessons to help support his family.
THE OPPORTUNITY THAT CHANGED EVERYTHING
In 2021, Leonel joined the Mentoring and Skills Training project, supported by Happy Child International.
It was there that his life began to take a new direction.

One year after completing his training, Leonel was selected to join Gerdau, one of the largest companies in the country.
After a year and a half as an apprentice, he was offered a permanent position.
Today, he is also at university, studying Quality Management and Control.
