A Teacher’s Heart, a Legacy of Hope
There is nothing more biblical than the transformation of a person’s life. This is God’s constant mission designed for all who believe in him.
Rosemary Planter, fifty-one years old, came to understand this when she decided to volunteer for the Ammar Transforma project. She shared
“I have attended church for many years, but I never felt drawn to any particular ministry until at the end of an event, Patricia (Ammar Transforma Volunteer), made a request for people to become volunteers with Ammar Transforma, And I thought “Wow I could teach English.”
It has already been three years since Rose (as she is affectionately known), has been teaching English once a week on Saturday mornings. Considering the learning method, the lessons last for one hour and the students are divided by age group. Teachers Nata and Rose share about how the power of God can transform lives through education. The lessons are informal, dynamic, and welcoming, respecting time and particular needs of each child and young person. The teachers use films, music, stories, texts, games, and other activities that makes the learning experience more interactive and of interest to the participants.
More than just learning a new language the lessons create a space in which the students can express themselves, discover new gifts and believe in their own potential. It becomes clear that Rose cares for the students as if they were her own children. She has just one wish
“I would like to bless generations. I have two children aged 25 and 19 years old and dream of a good stable home for them. It is the same for these children.”
Their care reveals more than just a teacher’s promise, it reveals a profound hope to build futures. Just like the Aaronic blessing (Numbers6: 22-27) when he asked the Lord bless you, keep you and make his face to shine upon you and grant you peace, Rose searches to offer her students something that goes beyond knowledge given in the classroom.
